Supplemental Training

• The RI Training Academy provides supplemental educational training services. We believe every individual has unique strengths and challenges, and we work closely with our trainees (CYCPs) to help them achieve their full potential. 

• The Training Academy for Competent Youth Work from College Station, Texas provides supplemental training and other resources. If you are planning to obtain national certification from the Child and Youth Care Certification Board (CYCCB.org) or need continued training for DOL Aprenticeship program this supplemental training is for you. 

• The Training Academy for Competent Work also provides pre-exam coaching for those seeking national certification.

Basic training offered by the Training Academy for Competent Youth Work:

1. Child & Youth Care: Foundations Course (The 36-hour live course is taught as six 6-hour classes. It can also be taught as twelve 3-hour classes.)   

2. Youth Thrive: Protective and Promotive Factors for Healthy Adolescent Development and Well-being (The 21-hour Youth Thrive Live Practitioner Training is taught in a three-day format of 7-hours per day.)  

3.  Family Thieve: Protective and Promotive Factors to Enhance Thriving for All children, Youth and Families (The 28-hour Families Thrive Live Practitioner Training is taught in a four-day format of 7-hours per day)

• The Academy for Competent Youth Work (Texas), working with the Association for Child and Youth Care Practice (ACYCP), Youth in Focus (YiF), National Safe Place Network (NSPN), and the Child and Youth Care Certification Board (CYCCB), implemented CYC SOURCE,  a virtual market place for professional development courses and webinars. 

• This shared space allows CYC practitioners ONE PLACE where they can find a wealth of new ideas and current ‘best practices’  emerging in the CYC community. It also provides trainers, educators, and organizations a common marketplace where the CYC community can find their work.
